Contemporary Japanese Crane ojime by Meishu (Akihide).
This is a superb and rare to find Ojime by the highly renowned Japanese artist Akira Kawahara (real name). Born in 1934 Tokyo he began carving ivory, and in 1958 turned to netsuke and ojime. Very rare to find items by this carver on the open market, as most are in private collections in Japan. This Japanese crane is in ivory, with a tortoise/hornbill inlaid cap. Signed on the underside, unstained.
